THE NAME SEPTARIA COMES FROM THE LATIN WORD “SEPTUM” WHICH MEANS PARTITION AND REFERS TO THE CRACKS/CAVITIES IN THE ROCK.

ROUGHLY 23 MILLION YEARS AGO (OLIGOCENE PERIOD) THESE FOSSILIZED BALLS OF CLAY MUD WERE CREATED.

THE SEA LEVELS DROPPED EXPOSING THESE CLAY NODULES, WHICH EVENTUALLY DRIED UP LEAVING THESE STUNNING NATURAL CRACKS ON THE INSIDE.

THE MINERALS LEFT BEHIND BY THE WATER CRYSTALIZED INTO A VARIETY SUCH AS PIRITE CALCITE AND ARAGONITE

THE SEPTARIAN IN THE PICTURES ARE ORIGINATED FROM BELGIUM.
