BÉATRICE SERRE

"STONE WAS THERE BEFORE US, IT WILL BE THERE LONG AFTER MY HAND MOVES IT INTO SPACE"

1/2

All this prodigious mineral pathway on which I do not stop evolving, show myself step by step, how every tessera finds its place within space and time, as the Mandala. This fabulous notion to recreate another dimension from natural elements, such as stones and minerals combined, is revealing me the dazzling truth of the importance of any existence on Earth and in the Universe. This thousand-year-old craftsmanship technique is metamorphosed into contemporary mosaic, finding new horizons in architectural decoration, furniture design, the unusual object and pure artwork. The themes are inspired essentially by a combination of Space and Nature.

JESSE MONONGYA

"STRENGTH AND POWER"

Raised in New Mexico in the famous Navajo rug center of Two Gray Hills, Jesse learned early the perfection of the craft from watching the weavers and their pursuit of balance and technical perfection. The beautiful songs the women would sing as they wove and the soothing sound of the loom would stay with him as he began his work at the jeweler’s bench years later. The stars the elders talked about looking up in that beautiful black sky of the Southwest would eventually be used in stunning array in the classic bracelets and pendants he is so well known for throughout the world.

YANN DESSAUVAGES

Yann Dessauvages °June 1989 born in Brussels is a Belgian autodidact artist-designer. As the child of a teacher and a metalworker, he grew up in a house with a workshop, where he created his first metal sculptures at the age of 16. He started his professional life working in a second-hand shop, where the sculptural furniture of designers like Armand Jonckers and Ado Chale struck him. Their capacity to transform brass, copper and semi-precious stones into glamourous, sophisticated objects inspired Yann to quit his job and elaborate his skills as a smith. After his first furniture experiments in recycled tin, he refined his style by using brass and gemstones. Without any background in art or design, Yann Dessauvages creates his furniture by intuitively sculpting the materials available in his workshop. The references to organic, planetary or geological forms come from his unbiased imagination. More than a collection of tables, he creates a coherent oeuvre that mixes functionality and art, object and subject, tradition and innovation.

AUGUST MUTH

"LIGHT IS THE FAITHFUL ARCHIVIST OF TIME"

For more than 30 years Muth has been an internationally exhibiting artist and a pioneer in the exploration of light through holography.  His interest in light began at the age of 16 when he began making large water-filled glass prisms, which he used to refract prismatic light upon his family’s garage door.  In 1973 he left Albuquerque to work as a jewelry maker in Aspen, Colorado, where he became captivated by the light of opals and diamonds.  Upon returning to Albuquerque the following year, he began his studies in art and physics at the University of New Mexico, and later continued at the University of Houston, and the University of Texas at Austin.

LUIS ALBERTO QUISPE

Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio, founder of L’Aquart creative studio, was fascinated by the precious stones’ beauty from his early childhood, especially that he was born in a family of jewelers. His dream to start his own business - “The first luxury goods brand from Peru” - was so overpowering that its incarnation was just inevitable. Therefore, several years ago, Luis Alberto founded L’Aquart, a brand that offers a variety of art objects which central elements, accents and details are artfully embellished with carved gemstones.

ORFEO QUAGLIATA & ERNESTO DURAN

"TYME COLLECTION"

One of the main attributes of this collaboration between Orfeo Quagliata and Ernesto Duran is the process.

A dance between essence and detail, bring a creation of unique and unrepeatable pieces merging nature’s gems and human hand.

TYME is the result of the coexistence between materials that impose their nature; on one hand, the unpredictable structures that form the elements in different parts of the world and on the other, the compositions that the glass creates when permeating with its colours and transparencies.

NICOLAI MEDVEDEV

"THINKING OUTSIDE THE JEWELLERY BOX"

Nicolai studied western European art in Ashkhabad and Moscow. However, his eye for pattern and color was inspired by daily life in his native Turkmenia, a land of carpets, mosques, and woven textiles.

He finds his motifs by cutting through specimens to reveal images like wings of a butterfly or a lotus flower to use as a centerpiece. Nicolai has done this kind of work for over 40 years and has been well received for his lapidary artistry.
