GOGOTTE
"The natural Phenomena"
Gogottes are exclusively found in Fontainebleau, France in a specific formation which dates back to the Oligocene Period, and is 34-28 million years old. The gogottes themselves formed between 8000 - 5000 years ago. Gogottes are formed from quartz crystals and calcium carbonate. They were produced when superheated water extruded through crevices into a basin of extremely fine white silicate sand. The water was saturated with calcium carbonate (Limestone). The swirls and eddies of the water were captured in the gradually concreting stone, forming the most wonderful natural sculptures.
AMETHYST
"Amethyst from Urumining"
In the northern part of Uruguay, in the heart of the Artigas province Urumining is working in the amethyst and agate rich fields of “La Bolsa”. In this region the most colour intense amethysts are found and the mine is profiting from an abundance of high quality agates. Granada Gallery’s focus on Mine to Market material is greatly enhanced through this specialized partnership with Urumining.
